How it works

The Findability Diagnostic

Evidence-based assessment of what's broken, what it's costing, and what needs fixing in what order. Always the starting point. Fixed price, scoped from a short brief.

No diagnostic, no project.

The Fix

Could be search configuration, metadata, synonym mapping, navigation, whatever the diagnostic found. Fixed price, paid in stages.

Keeping it working

Via retainer (scheduled, regular, fixed monthly activities) or credits (specific tasks, prepaid, no scheduled commitment). Credits also work as fractional director access, and your team gets expert support, the knowledge stays in the building.

Retail and ecommerce, including Shopify and Algolia.

Your customers can't find what they came for.
And you have no idea.

They search. They get irrelevant results, or nothing. They try a different word. They get the same wall of wrong answers. They go back to Google, where Amazon is primed and waiting.

It doesn't show up as an error. There's no alert for "customer gave up." It shows up as a conversion rate that's quietly, persistently lower than it should be. Your catalogue grew. Your search configuration didn't keep up. Nobody owns the gap between what your customers type and what your platform returns.

Products not showing up in search results even when they're in stock

Wrong results, or too many results, with no useful way to narrow them down

Navigation that made sense when the catalogue was smaller but doesn't any more

Search configured once, at implementation, and never touched since

Seasonal campaigns that rely on someone manually fixing search every time

Fixed: your customer searches, finds it, buys it, and doesn't go back to Google.

NHS, local authorities, government-adjacent digital services, charities.

Your visitors can't find it online.
They'll find your phone number instead.

The information and services exist. People just can't find them. And you wonder why you have a bad rep.

Nobody is searching for "NHSx Digital Transformation Strategy v4 FINAL FINAL." They're searching for "how do I refer a patient." When those two things don't connect, someone picks up the phone. Multiply that across everyone trying to access your service every day, and you have a cost problem, a staffing problem, and yes, a reputation problem.

Services that exist but people can't reach without knowing the secret code

Too many results nobody trusts, so they phone anyway

Your organisation calls it one thing. Your visitors call it something else entirely. Your search engine didn't get the message.

Structure built around departments and internal logic rather than how people actually think

Paper-based clinical or administrative processes that need to move digital without losing the logic that makes them work

Fixed: the person who needed help finds it themselves, without picking up the phone.
